Lending money to a friend without losing track
Lending money to a friend or relative is common, and so is forgetting how much it was, when it was supposed to be paid back or how much is left. Asking without the facts feels awkward, and the other person doesn't want to look bad over an amount they don't remember either.
Having the loan recorded, with its installments and payments, takes that weight off: both of you see the same thing and the reminder comes from the app, not from you.
How personal debts work in Minkay
Personal debts are money you lend or borrow outside a shared-expenses group. Each one keeps the contact, description, amount and currency. You can record full or partial payments, and the outstanding balance updates per currency.
For bigger loans you can set up an installment plan: each loan shows its progress, the next installment and its status. When recording a payment you can attach a photo or PDF of the receipt, and when the debtor reports a payment, it stays "awaiting your validation" until you confirm or reject it.
- WhatsApp reminder with a friendly message already written.
- Notifications before each due date and on the day an installment is due.
- A button to settle everything when the loan is closed.
- History per person: what you're owed and what you owe.
Group debts and personal debts in one app
If the debt comes from a shared expense (a dinner, a trip, the apartment's rent), it belongs in a group, where Minkay splits the expense and simplifies debts. If it's a loan between two people, it goes in personal debts. Both live in the same app and the same per-currency report.
Tracking personal debts is free. The Free plan includes one active loan plan at a time; Minkay Pro removes that limit. Details are on the plans page.
