A monthly budget: deciding before you spend
A budget isn't about not spending, it's about deciding in advance how much goes to each thing. The simplest way to start is to look at last month's spending and cap just two or three categories: eating out, delivery, nights out or shopping.
In Minkay each budget is set per category and per month, and its progress is calculated from the expenses you already log. You see how much you've spent against the cap and how much is left, without separate math. In travel groups you can also set a trip budget, which flags when it's close to the limit or over it.
Savings goals with contributions and projections
A savings goal puts a name and a number on what you want: a trip, an emergency fund, a laptop. In Minkay you create the goal with its target amount, its currency and an optional date, and add contributions with a note if you want.
If the goal has a date, Minkay calculates how much you need to save each month to make it in time and, based on your contribution pace, when you'd get there. When you reach the target the goal is marked as completed; you can also archive it and reactivate it later.
- The goal's currency is locked once it has contributions, so progress isn't distorted.
- Contributing to a goal counts toward your missions and achievements in the app.
- Goals and budgets also show on the read-only web dashboard.
What the Free plan includes and what Pro adds
Budgets and savings goals are part of the Free plan, with a quantity limit (by default, two budgets and one goal). Minkay Pro makes them unlimited and adds budget alerts when you reach 80% of the cap and when you exceed it.
Pro is optional: S/ 14.90 per month, S/ 99 per year or S/ 249 one-time lifetime (Peruvian soles, VAT included). The full comparison and availability are on the plans page.
